Medical Malpractice

Medical Malpractice-Misdiagnosed Pulmonary Embolism

The widower hired Matthew Golden to bring a lawsuit against a hospital and doctor. The victim, our client’s wife, went to the hospital emergency department with symptoms of a pulmonary embolism but was ignored and discharged; she died a few hours later at home from a pulmonary embolism.

After filing suit, extensive discovery revealed the hospital nurse and emergency room doctor had conspired to change the medical records in an attempt to cover up the misdiagnosis. A confidential settlement was reached with the doctor and the hospital.

Medical Malpractice-Misdiagnosed Heart Attack

Matthew Golden’s client went to the doctor experiencing shortness of breath and chest pain. The doctor performed a chest x-ray and wrongly determined the client had pneumonia. Five hours later the client suffered a massive heart attack. After the massive heart attack, the client’s wife was told he had less than a ten percent chance to live.

After six weeks in a coma and months of hospital treatment, the client miraculously returned home but was never the same. Matthew Golden filed suit and utilized expert testimony to prove the chest x-ray was wrongly interpreted; the x-ray actually showed the client was experiencing the beginning stages of a heart attack.

If the doctor had correctly interpreted the x-ray, the client would have been provided the appropriate treatment and avoided the massive, debilitating heart attack. A confidential settlement was reached with the doctor and medical clinic.

Medical Malpractice-Misdiagnosed Pulomary Embolism

The mother hired Matthew Golden to bring a lawsuit on behalf of the victim’s surviving son. The victim was in the hospital for a skin condition. While in the hospital, she exhibited symptoms of a pulmonary embolism.

Both the doctor and nurses ignored the patient’s symptoms. After several hours of struggling to breath, the victim died. A confidential settlement was reached with the doctor and hospital, the settlement was placed into annuity for the victim’s surviving minor son.

Pharmacy error-overdose

Matthew Golden client was prescribed a routine medication. However, a prescription error lead to an overdose and extensive hospitalization. A settlement was achieved with the pharmacist.

Side by Side death: The only child of a man killed in a side-by-side accident hired Matthew Golden to bring a lawsuit against the responsible party. The driver of the side-by-side did not have insurance and Matthew Golden’s client had been told there would be no way he would achieve a recovery.

Matthew Golden was able to prove the accident happened on a hunting lease that had insurance coverage, and he further successfully argued the hunting lease policy insured the driver. The case was settled with the hunting lease’s insurer.

A woman died while being held in a county jail for mental health reasons. The victim’s family hired Matthew Golden to investigate. The victim was originally brought to jail on a mental health hold.

The county failed to send her to an appropriate healthcare institution within the time required by state law. While in custody, she died, and even though cameras were pointed at her cell, the county could not produce camera footage of the cell during the women’s death. A civil rights case was filed. The case was settled.

Dog-Bite Minor Child

Matthew Golden was hired the parents of a child who was severely injured when a dog attacked the child while he was playing in his own yard. Matthew Golden was able to prove the dog’s owner knew the dog was dangerous and the dog had a history of attacks. The case was settled.

Matthew Golden’s client was a construction worker that was injured when a gym construction project collapsed. The client was in a man-lift and as the gym collapsed he jumped from the manlift to avoid death but was severely injured. Matthew Golden was able to prove the gym collapsed because the general contractor ignored the builidng plans in an effort to cut costs. The case was settled.

Matthew Golden was hired by a man who fell in an uncovered manhole while he was performing construction. The client suffered a broken arm and shoulder injuries which required multiple surgeries. A settlement was achieved.

Construction Accident

Matthew Golden's client was working as an electrician. The client was installing electrical wiring on an upper level. While Matthew Golden's client was working on the upper level, the employee for another subcontractor was using a scissor lift to perform his duties. The scissor lift was not charged the night before, and thus the battery was dead. The Defendant employee plugged the scissor lift into an outlet using an extension cord; to assure the extension cord would not come unplugged when moved, he tied the end of extension cord closest to a receptacle to a pipe and then tied the extension cord’s opposite end tot the scissor lift. The Defendant employee then moved the scissor lift with the extension cord attached. The extension cord wrapped around Plaintiff and dragged him through a wall causing Plaintiff severe and permanent injury. The case was confidentially settled.
